When our boys are in church, I sometimes wonder whether they are actually listening and understanding what they are hearing.
Our text for the sermon this morning was Genesis 4:1-9 where Cain kills Abel and then lies to God about it. As Pastor Eric was reading this, Evan was hugging and kissing me (something he likes to do during worship). As soon as Eric read verse 8, (Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.) Evan looked at me with questioning eyes and said, "Killed him?" He obviously was shocked that a man would kill his own brother.
He was listening. And, his innocence was refreshing.
