Evan's Prayer

I was praying with Evan before bed tonight. Evan said, "I want to pray. I want to say 'Thank you, God.'". I asked him what he wanted to thank God for. He replied, "blessings." He then went on to thank God for his book called The Soup Opera.

I Need Medicine...

Evan was jealous that Nathan got medicine for his cold yesterday. This morning, Evan told me, "I need medicine. My feelings are hurt."

Christmas at Home

Here are a few pictures from our Christmas celebration at home. Better late than never, right?

On Christmas Eve after church...Elbert made our first fire in the fireplace, and we had a special "snack" of shrimp and cocktail sauce before the kids went to bed.

Nathan, Andrew, Evan and Elbert all had action figures sticking out of the top of their stockings. I didn't feel left out (in case you were wondering).

Evan reaching into his stocking...

Nai-Nai and Yie-Yie on Christmas morning... It was fun to have them celebrate with us.

Christmas dinner crowd (minus Pam the photographer). It was our first meal in our dining room. The grilled turkey was delicious!

Excuse Me...

Last night while Elbert and I were watching Michigan State play football, we heard Nathan yell something in his sleep. Elbert thought he was saying something about Master Plo Koon from Star Wars. We both went upstairs into Nathan and Andrew's room to see if he was okay. When we walked it, it seemed like both Nathan and Andrew were sleeping soundly.

We covered them both up and were almost ready to walk out of the room when Nathan said, "Excuse me. What are you doing here?" We told him that we heard him yell and came to check on him and cover him up. He seemed pleased with that answer. We all said "Goodnight", and Elbert and I had a good laugh.

Teacher or Student?

A breakfast conversation before we left Grandpa and Grandma's house...

Andrew: "Grandpa, are you a teacher or a student?"

Grandpa: "I'm a student. I'm still learning how to be a Grandpa. Do you want to teach me?"

Andrew (laughing): "No, I can only teach you how to be a kid!"

Sharing Cookies

During dinner at my parents' house, we had cookies for dessert. I grabbed a cookie and shared a small bit with Evan. I put the rest of the cookie in my mouth and started chewing.

Evan wanted more than his allotment. He said, "You share more with me?" Then, he cupped his hand under my chin and asked, "You spit it out?" The laughs keep coming with this one...
