Evan on the War

We recently met a WWII veteran and heard him talk about his years in the service.  It was a fascinating conversation.  He wrote a book that I am planning to read over Christmas break.

Evan looked at the book and remembered Mr. Koll talking about how soldiers died in the war.  Evan told me, "I don't want to be in the war.  You know how I want to get dead?  By getting sick or hurt, not by getting murdered."

My Language

Evan this morning at breakfast: "I only speak in this language [English] because I only know a few words in Chinese, and I don't know what they mean."

What a Talker!

I know it's a lost cause, but I don't want to forget the things that Kyle says.

He was just looking for a song in a book. He said, "I find it Ants Marching.  I think it back here.  I found it!  (Turning to Elbert with hand raised) High five!"

Andrew's Prayer

After devotions tonight, we went around the table and prayed for the person to our right.  Andrew prayed for me.  He said, "Thank you, Lord, for Mommy.  Thank you for her good cooking.  And, please help her to be a grandmother soon.  Amen."

Nathan on Noses

Evan (to Mom): "Your nose is longer than mine."

Nathan: "That's what you get when Polish and German combine -- long noses."

Seeing Jesus

Evan said, "I wish I could see Jesus.  The real Jesus, not just a picture."

I told him, "You will.  We will be with Jesus in Heaven."

Evan responded, "No, when I'm on the ground I want to see Jesus!"

Dirt

Kyle learned the word "dirt" this morning. He's walking around, pointing to every speck on the floor and enthusiastically saying, "dirt!" He's such a great helper!

Very Sweet

The first thing Evan usually asks in the morning is "Where are Andrew and Nathan?" Today, I told him that Nathan is at school, and Andrew is still sleeping.

Then, he asked, "Is Andrew going anywhere today?"

After I said, "No", Evan said, "Good, because I want to play with him all day."

Elbert's Goatee

After having it for several months, Elbert shaved off his goatee on Monday night. When Evan saw him for the first time on Tuesday after work, he was confused. He asked Elbert, "Why does your face look not normal?"

A Pity

Evan: "Wouldn't it be a pity if Nathan and Andrew's bed was in the car?"

Mom: "Yes, it would."

Evan: "Be a pity."

Where does he get this stuff?
