Andrew's Picture of Miss Emily

Andrew drew a picture of his babysitter last night, Miss Emily. Very flattering, don't you think!

Chinese Referee

Mom: "Nathan, who was your referee at your soccer game last night?"

Nathan: "He looked like he was from China, but he wasn't because he spoke English."

Mom: "Oh, kind of like your Daddy?"

Nathan: "No, he [Daddy] looks like he's from Michigan."

Flashback Friday - Kristen at 3, 4, and 5 years old

Because I did a "Flashback Friday" for Elbert at 5 years, I got a request for a Flashback Friday for me when I was a child.

So, here you go...

From the Mouth of Andrew...

Andrew loves his blanket, and I am thankful that I have two of them. I had just washed one of his blankets, and it was folded next to his door to be put away.

Andrew saw the clean blanket this morning and asked, "Can I have my clean bubba?"

I told him that his blanket wasn't dirty.

He said, "One week ago, I took it [my blanket] outside and got it in the mud. That's how my bubba got dirty."

Not true...but funny how his mind tried to rationalize his desire.

I Was Lonely

This morning, Nathan woke up (as usual) at 7am. Andrew slept in until around 7:45am. When Andrew woke up, I heard him calling for me. I went in there, and he told me, "I was lonely when Nathan got up." He loves his big brother!

Andrew loved looking at the ducks in the lake.

Andrew made us "coffee" with the sand at the park. Here is is yelling "COFFEE, COFFEE!"
The boys pretended this playset was a train. Here they are yelling "ALL ABOARD!"

Flashback Friday (on Sunday) - Nathan Playing Soccer

Back in July 2006, Nathan was 2 years old. He participated in a toddler soccer camp for one week while we were in Texas visiting Elbert's brother and his family.



This past Thursday, Nathan had his first game playing "Tiny Tot" Soccer through the Parks and Rec. His team is 4's and young 5's. It was quite the adventure. The kids didn't quite understand the game, but they had fun running around!

On The Count of 3...

Nathan this morning:

"Mommy, can you get up and get me breakfast? I'll help you on the count of 3. I'll start like a rocket only without the 2 and 1. Ready... 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3 -- heave!"

Vacation Pictures #2

We spent a day on Mackinaw Island. Here's Evan on the ferry. His hair stuck straight up!









Nathan has been very interested in the Revolutionary War lately, so he was thrilled he got to see "soldiers" on the Island.


For one of the exhibits in the fort, the kids got to learn how to hold a rifle by watching a man on TV giving them instructions.

We spent a morning at a fish hatchery. The babies rode around on their Daddy's backs. The kids had fun feeding the fish. They were worn out on the way back to the cottage.

Vacation Pictures #1

We took a lot of great pictures during our vacation. I'll share some in the next few posts.

One of Andrew's favorite things to do during vacation was hunt for bugs with a bug net at the cottage. Here he is with Dad and Nathan searching for a bug. The first day at the cottage, Andrew had a dead bug in his net. Nathan told us, "I killed it because it's easier to catch when it's dead."

Evan and I enjoyed time together on the hammock. He started pointing while we were on vacation and pointed constantly at trees, pictures, people, etc.
Daddy and Nathan were reading about the legend of the Petoskey stone.

The house had a great wrap-around porch. The boys enjoyed wagon rides courtesy of whoever would pull them.
We borrowed a backpack to use with Evan. He LOVED his new view.











Nathan, Andrew, and Evan all had a great time at the beach.


















We brought along our Wii and taught Elbert's mom and dad how to play. They both really liked bowling. Elbert's dad really got into it. He even fell on the floor a few times, although I never caught that on camera.
